Favorite Things Giveaway :: Coffee Edition

As a huge thank you to everyone who reads Louisiana Bride and follows on Facebook, Twitter, IG and everywhere else I am having a little celebratory giveaway! We hit 200 followers on Facebook and with GFC this week, whoo hoo!
Since I am a coffee addict, thanks to Jeremy, I thought it would be neat to do another favorite things type giveaway, but do it with coffee!
So you have the chance to win a super cute green Lotus Blossom coffee/tea mug from World Market and either a can of Cafe Du Monde coffee or a box of your favorite K-Cups. You get to pick, mainly because not everyone has a coffee maker anymore, a lot of people use Keurig these days.
So, who wants some coffee and a cute mug?
Giveaway sponsored by Louisiana Bride. I was in no way paid to promote these brands, they are just products I love, products were purchased by Louisiana Bride.

Influenster Voxbox Review :: Radiant with Aveeno

Since I was 18 I've been on a search for beauty products that work. The last thing I want is to be an old woman who looks old, and considering people are so willing to botox themselves silly these days and I am terrified of needles I have had to put my attention towards good night creams.

My skin has changed a lot over the years, in high school I never broke out. In college I rarely broke out, but in my late 20's as a teacher the stress as finally caught up with me and breakouts are always an issue. I've used and tried many things, and recently someone who was having a similar issue told me her dermatologist advised her to not use such a heavy moisturizer.

Too heavy of a moisturizer?

I didn't know that was possible! I was under the opinion that the more greased up my face was the less likely I was to age, who knew I was probably clogging my pores and causing my problems.

About a week ago I was sent a jar of Aveeno Positively Radiant Intense Night Cream to review from Influenster, the name led me to believe it would be insanely thick and heavy, but no. Not at all.

Intense always made me think super thick, instead intense here obviously just means it works amazing! After a week of using it every night I can tell you I haven't had a single breakout this week, granted it's purpose is not to help with breakouts, but the ingredients in Aveeno are so wonderful on my skin and don't clog my pores at all. Every morning when I get up my skin looks dewy and has a nice glow to it, unlike other creams it isn't super thick...and compared to the most recent expensive over the counter cream I used it doesn't burn my eyeballs out! If you're interested in what product I was using just email me, it seriously felt like I was rubbing sand paper and acid on my skin. Aveeno on the other hand is soothing and smells amazing.

This may be a little random, but as part of my Voxbox I was sent not only the night cream but an eyemask, Aveeno and Influenster speak my love language. I am slightly obsessed/addicted to eye masks!

A few reasons why I love Aveeno Positively Radiant night cream so much ::

- super light and oil free (aka doesn't clog my pores)
-brightens and evens skin tone (that's the Total Soy Complex working people!)
-contains B3 >>> here is a little about what I found of the benefits of B3 online (source)
Because topical application of niacinamide can help preserve levels of NADH and NADPH, it contributes to the support of the skin’s barrier against pollutants and other irritants. As a result, many skin conditions, such as acne, the redness associated with rosacea, and other inflammatory signs can be actively managed. Also, vitamin B3 has shown to be useful for encouraging the production of natural emollients that can help the skin remain hydrated.

I started to not add this goofy video I made for #RadiantWithAveeno on Vine...but I'll suck it up and share my ridiculousness with you! If you're on Vine can follow me @LABride, I'd also love to follow you back.

All in all, it's a fabulous night cream. This right here is why I absolutely love review products, something I might not normally pick up in the store turns out to be something I will stick to for years to come. There is nothing better than being introduced to new and awesome products. Thank you so much Aveeno and Influenster for letting me try out this night cream, you definitely won over a new Aveeno customer for life!

I received the product and eye mask mentioned from Influenster and part of their Aveeno Voxbox. All opinions are my own. I was not paid monetarily to promote this product, I just received the night cream to review.

From the Proposal to Ever After :: Book Review

I was recently sent a copy of Camille Carter's book From the Proposal to Ever After A Louisiana Woman's Guide to Marriage and Community Property Laws to review and share. All opinions are my own, I was not paid, but I was given a copy for the book for free.

Have you ever thought about marriage law? Who's legally in charge of the money in the event of your husband's death, or even yours? What happens to property you owned before you were married? Does your spouse have rights to your inheritance?

Those questions and many more were answered by Camille in her new book From the Proposal to Ever After. As a woman we happily marry without ever thinking twice about marriage law. No one ever gets married with plans to divorce, but in the event it ever were to happen you would need to know a little about the state laws.

Not only were divorce laws covered, but Camille also hit on a topic we've discussed on many occasions...death. I've thought for some time about getting a living will together and now more than ever I think we definitely need to. In case you didn't know, Louisiana works under community property laws, I was actually surprised at what all was included in community property law. Something I found very interesting was that in the event your husband were to die that 50/50 law of Louisiana's doesn't immediately deem you the now 100% owner of everything the two of you owned. Nope. his half doesn't go to you but your children, if you have no kids then it goes to his parents. Next it trickles down to his siblings, their kids...and eventually landing at cousins. I think that was the most eye opening thing I learned, while it was very good to know the marriage law, the way things pan out in death was most interesting to me.

I could turn that into a big soap box though.

I really loved this book, it was well written, & Camille did a great job at putting legal terms into words we can all understand better. I learned so much about Louisiana marriage law from this book, and plan to take what I've learned and implement it into our plans for each other, if that makes sense. While divorce isn't in our planned future, many other things that fall into Louisiana marriage law will come upon us at one time or another.

I highly recommend this book to any woman or even man who live in Louisiana or were married here. If you are about to marry you should definitely read, it never hurts to know what the law has to say and how it will affect you in different circumstances.

Firmoo Review & their current code for free shipping

Recently I was contacted about reviewing a glasses company, seeing as how I wear glasses an all I was totally in for a free pair:) Since this is my review obviously all opinions are my own, I was compensated by Firmoo with a free pair of prescription glasses for this review.

So how do I feel about Firmoo

At first I was skeptical about it, and honestly had a hard time putting my prescription into the site. Which wasn't their problem at all, it was entirely the fact that my prescription was written in some weird doctor's office shorthand. Funny thing is, when I went to get my prescription the girl looked at me nuts...when I explain why I needed it (that I was a blogger) she looked at me even crazier!

With all my prescription craziness one of the nice people at Firmoo actually emailed me to tell me the prescription was wack. Yes, yes it was entered quite wack, he didn't exactly use those words...but let's be honest. What I wrote down was a little off and I was just guessing what on earth the girl at the doctor meant by the crazy numbers she wrote. I didn't know what to write the poor guy who was left to deal with me, so I sent him a phone photo of the prescription and within a day I got a confirmation that my glasses were about to ship.

Shipping...it was super quick. Jeremy actually got my glasses in last week over spring break and I just got my hands on them this past weekend. I thought I'd actually test these puppies out before writing this post about how great they were...without even knowing.

I can honestly tell you though they are great glasses. Friday I wore them to Secret Church and loved that the shape of them really kept me from looking over or under them like I do with my regular glasses. Jeremy actually commented that I better be glad this frame is in style these days.

Really though, they have a mirad of frame choices...I just picked these because I've been dying for a pair for about a solid year now since my favorite blogger got some. Why yes Louisiana Bride readers...I'm a copy cat when it comes to prescription eye wear:)

Saturday I wore them to play tennis, which I am positive is the sure fire test of good glasses. I didn't have a single problem with them, they stayed put and weren't uncomfortable at all. Not once did they attempted to leave my face my the first pair of glasses I ever owned and purchased from a big mall store often tried to do.

Then I wore them Sunday for Easter...I went the pastel granola Target hipster route.

I have been wearing them to work these week, and once the students decided I wasn't wearing fake glasses like they were they decided my glasses were really cool. You know you're cool when the upper elementary fashion police approve ha!

With the glasses I was also provided with a nice fancy glasses wipe with Firmoo's logo on it, a really nice lined hard case, and a case for the hard case to go in. Truly, for the price it would have cost me, had I paid, and for the quality of the product that I received ...it was much better....way way better than any glasses company I've ever dealt with. Really and truly in the future I will be ordering glasses from them, not like this year in the future...but next year when I go for another checkup.

Working with Firmoo was great, they were super helpful when my tech-non-savy self couldn't figure something out. The product they put out there is worth every penny you would spend, and they definitely beat the competitors prices.

Now that is what I feel is most important, but there are other features the company offers that are really nice such as:

-personal photo upload so that the customer can "try on" the glasses before ordering.
-customer reviews and pictures on every glasses style page.
-easy to navigate site
-tutorials for putting in your prescription information, and a friendly staff to help with questoins
-quality lenses
-affordable prices
-they even have computer glasses (which I didn't know existed)

I highly recommend you check out the website, even if you aren't a prescription glasses wearer. They carry sunglasses and regular glasses with or without the prescription as well. On the site right now Firmoo is offering free shipping on orders of $39 or more in the U.S. with the code FREESHIP or for orders $55 dollars or more internationally with the code FREEXSHIP
